How Our Data Works

We believe in full transparency. Here is how we collect, verify, and present phone number information to keep you safe.

1. Data Aggregation

We index publicly available information from government registries, telecommunications directories, and open-source intelligence (OSINT). We strictly respect privacy laws and do not access private contact lists.

2. Community Reporting

Real-time reports from users like you are our most valuable asset. When a user flags a number as "Scam" or "Robocall," it feeds directly into our trust score algorithm.

3. Spam Detection AI

Our proprietary algorithms analyze call patterns, report frequency, and carrier metadata to assign a "Risk Score" to every number. Sudden spikes in activity trigger immediate warnings.

4. Public Verification

Businesses can claim their profiles and verify their identity. Verified numbers receive a "Trusted" badge, helping users distinguish legitimate calls from impersonators.

Our Data Sources

TrueCally aggregates data from three primary streams to ensure accuracy:

  • Public Records: Official business directories and government filings that are available in the public domain.
  • User Submissions: Reviews, comments, and spam reports submitted directly on our platform.
  • Partnerships: Licensed data from security firms to help identify known fraud rings and international spam operations.

Spam Detection Methodology

We don't just count reports; we analyze behavior. Our system looks for:

  • Velocity: A high volume of calls/reports in a short time frame is a strong indicator of robocalling.
  • Consensus: Multiple unrelated users reporting the same "Amazon Scam" script validates the threat.
  • Number Type: VoIP numbers are flagged more cautiously than fixed lines due to their frequent use in spoofing.

Data Freshness

Phone numbers change owners. That's why we prioritize recency.

A number that was reported as spam 5 years ago but has had zero activity since may have its risk score lowered. Conversely, a previously safe number that suddenly generates 50 reports in an hour will be flagged instantly.
